Our Story

Twelve Years of Engineering Excellence

BeeSmart was founded in 2012 by a team of engineers who had spent the previous decade inside the infrastructure and software teams of Fortune 500 companies. They saw the same problems repeated everywhere — fragile systems, manual processes, runaway cloud costs, and a persistent gap between business strategy and technology execution.

“We started BeeSmart because we believed the people closest to the engineering work should be the ones designing it — not managed from a distance.”

Over the past 12 years, we’ve grown from a 4-person boutique to a 120-person global practice, with offices in San Francisco, London, and Singapore. We’ve delivered over 200 projects across fintech, healthcare, logistics, and retail — and every one of them follows the same principle: build things the client’s team can own, operate, and extend independently.

The Architect Behind
BeeSmart's Vision

Dr. Malinga Nayanananda founded BeeSmart after more than a decade of experience building and scaling complex digital systems across startups, enterprises, and government institutions. Over those years, he developed a reputation for turning ambitious ideas into practical, high-impact solutions — combining deep technical expertise with a strong focus on execution, ownership, and long-term value creation.

Under Malinga’s leadership, BeeSmart has delivered over 300 successful software projects across global markets, while building high-performing engineering teams and launching scalable SaaS platforms across health-tech, logistics, and enterprise systems. His leadership was recognized when he guided his team to win the highest category award at NBQSA — Sri Lanka’s most prestigious software competition. Beyond his work in engineering and leadership, Malinga is deeply committed to social impact, having founded a Tech Academy that empowers underprivileged youth with the skills and mentorship needed to succeed in the digital economy.
